At Floorscape, we believe sustainability is about more than choosing a product with a green label. It’s about making better choices at every stage – from the raw materials we use, to how products are manufactured, how long they last and what happens to them at the end of their life.
Sustainability is embedded in our business strategy. Through Unilin’s One Home sustainability strategy, the focus is on reducing environmental impact, creating better products for our customers, and building a safer, more sustainable future.
From responsible forestry and recovered materials to renewable energy and new recycling technologies, we’re continually looking for ways to do better.

Making more of what we have
Wood is one of our most important resources, which is why Unilin focuses on using it responsibly and making every tree count.
More than 95% of the wood used in Unilin’s chipboard is recycled, helping keep valuable materials in use for longer. Where new timber is required, Unilin works with certified and controlled sources to support responsible forest management and traceability through the supply chain.
Unilin is also investing in circular technologies. In 2025, it achieved a breakthrough with the world’s first industrial-scale process for recycling MDF and HDF – materials at the core of laminate flooring – allowing recovered wood fibres to be reused in new products.

Sustainability extends beyond the materials themselves.
Unilin continues to invest in renewable energy and more efficient manufacturing.
64% of Unilin’s global energy mix comes from renewable sources, including wind, solar and biomass.
We also believe that making a floor that lasts is part of making a better floor. Durability, water resistance, scratch and stain resistance, and long-lasting finishes can help reduce the need for replacement and make better use of the resources invested in a product.
Indoor environments matter too. Relevant flooring products have achieved recognised low-emission classifications, including A, A+ and M1.
Independently recognised
We believe sustainability claims are more meaningful when they can be independently assessed or verified.
PEFC
Unilin participates in the PEFC Chain of Custody system, supporting the traceability of certified timber through the supply chain.
EPDs
Environmental Product Declarations provide independently verified information about a product’s environmental performance across its lifecycle.
EcoVadis Gold
Unilin has been awarded an EcoVadis Gold Medal, with a score of 81/100, placing it among the top 5% of companies assessed worldwide by EcoVadis at the time of assessment. The assessment evaluates sustainability management across environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.
